Glossary of Home Improvement Terms

Broad Foot

A basic unit of measurement used for lumber that is a board equal to one inch (1") in thickness and twelve inches (12") square. A piece of lumber one-half inch (½") in thickness and six inches (6") wide and 24 inches long is equal to one broad foot.
